Director's Corner

Summertime in the White Mountains of New Hampshire is in full effect (the rain has actually held off in August) and it could not be a better time to come up and play. Weekly, we are offering lessons in road cycling, kayaking, waterskiing, and shooting sports. Our weekend events have been well attended and we have the Wounded Warriors returning for 3 days at the end of August. I would have to say that our year round adaptive sports and recreational opportunities are here to stay.

Although the winter is always right around the corner in the White Mountains we do have some great things happening in the months before the snow starts to fall. September’s highlight will be the AMC Highland Center overnight bike ride on Saturday and Sunday the 26/27th. Book now as space is limited! There will also be two great opportunities to have a great time fundraising for our year round programs. The Three Notch Century will take place on September 11,12,13 and on Friday September 18 the eleventh annual Golf Classic will be taking place at the Owl’s Nest golf course. Please come out and show your support.

Throughout all the excitement of filling our new home with year round sports and recreation I was recently reminded of the phrase “Carpi Diem” or “Seize the day”. This phase could be applied to all aspects of one’s life from Adam Sapers “peak bagging” fundraiser to Tom Adams generous donation to just plain doing what you love to do MORE. Go ahead, get outside with your friends and family and “Seize the day”. What better place to do it than through the many programs of NE Disabled Sports.

Looking forward to seeing you all up here at in the near future!

Carpi Diem, Rob
