New England Disabled Sports Offers Shooting Sports |
New England Disabled Sports recently entered the realm of shooting sports by partnering up with the Pemigewasset Fish and Game Club located in Holderness, NH. This handicap accessible facility offers a venue for biathlon, trap shooting, archery and an indoor and outdoor range. Programming has been offered on an alternating week basis and has seen a growth in participation since its inception earlier this summer.
Many of the participants and our coaches have begun competing in the biathlon competitions that are offered once a month. The event even includes a first of its kind wheelchair division and walking division that accommodates a variety of disabilities and experience levels. Competitors range from those who have never fired a gun to experienced athletes competing at a national level. This upcoming October 4th event will include a mountain bike division instead of the usual running class. New England Disabled Sports will be hosting a Paralympic academy in conjunction with this event to expose many participants to not only biathlon but cycling as well. Check our website for dates and details about this and other exciting year round programs. |
