New England Disabled Sports (NEDS) at Loon Mountain began its’ adaptive program at the start of the 1987 ski season. NEDS at Loon Mountain offers children and adults, living with disabilities, the opportunity to enjoy sports instruction through a nationally and highly acclaimed adaptive program. Through our dedicated and trained volunteers, we offer customized, adaptive sport instruction to individuals living with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. At NEDS we focus on the student’s ability, not their disability, and our students continually break barriers they never thought possible.
Conveniently located next to the Governors Lodge and adjacent to the Children’s Center, the NEDS “Dr. Bob Harney Adaptive Sports Center” offers a Winter sports program (Alpine & Nordic Skiing, Snowboarding and snowshoeing) in addition to a Summer sports program (Technical Ropes, Paddling, Biking, Archery and Golfing). The NEDS at Loon Mountain programs provide year round, high quality instruction and the winter sports program incorporates the standards of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and teaching all disciplines of adaptive skiing and snowboarding.
Winter lessons include one-on-one instruction, a daily lift pass, and for those students who require specialized equipment, NEDS provides state-of-the-art equipment. NEDS at Loon Mountain offers half day morning or afternoon lessons and/or full day lessons. Scholarships are available for those requiring and qualifying for financial assistance. Reservations for lessons are preferred and highly recommended; however, walk-ins are always welcome and will be accommodated based on our available staffing that day.
Loon Mountain offers New Hampshire’s biggest skiing on 2,100 feet of vertical with 47 trails, 6 tree skiing areas, 6 terrain parks, superpipe and halfpipe. Readers of SKI Magazine consistently rate Loon as one of the most-accessible resorts in New England.
