Now in its 9th year, this unique event is a fundraiser for Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (ASPNC) and New England Disabled Sports (NEDS). Before sunrise, on Sunday, August 5th, athletes and teams will ascend the Mount Washington Auto Road, determined to reach the 6,288-foot summit of Mount Washington.
Each team includes an Adaptive Athlete and a team of Mules who help an athlete needing assistance, or accompany an independent athlete as he or she climbs the 7.6 miles to the summit. Trail Angels do not hike on the day, instead they help their team meet or exceed its team fundraising goal by assisting with solicitation of donations. After the teams complete their hike to the summit, Roadrunners drive up their empty cars to help to transport Athletes and Mules back down to the base area. The Bottom Side Brunch is a grand celebratory brunch at the base of the auto road. Together the teams are inspired by the beauty of the sunrise, the majesty of the Presidential Range and the determination shared amongst them.
