New England Disabled Sports is proud to offer limited placements to students who have an established partnership with any New England university’s Occupational Therapy or Sports Management programs studying Recreation, Tourism, Sports Management or a related field. NEDS placement students to date have hailed from Occupational Therapy Programs from Tuft’s University, the University of New Hampshire, MCPHS, and the University of Chicago and Plymouth State University’s Sports Management Program.
Applications for placements are due a year in advance. For a winter placement, positions are awarded by the end of March, and for a summer placement, positions are awarded by the end of October.
Our university students are responsible for creating and facilitating adaptive sports experiences for our athletess living with disabilities and, will collaborate with our coaches to make these experiences a reality, allowing NEDS athletes to continue to ‘break boundaries.’ A placement with NEDS will gain real world experience in non-profit management and leadership, creating and executing adaptive sports programs, project management in addition to the many other skills required to manage and execute a nationally recognized adaptive sports program.
